Bayern Munich’s English forward, Harry Kane broke a 60-year record for most goals in a debut season at Darmstadt on Saturday.
With 31 goals in 26 league games since arriving spurs in the summer, Kane surpassed German legend Uwe Seeler’s 30 goals for Hamburg in 1963-64.
Bayern Munich defeated Darmstadt 5-2 in the match, with Kane dragging Bayern into the lead before half-time. Bayern Munich remains in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Arsenal.
Darmstadt took the lead in the game, through Tim Skarke before Jamal Musiala levelled. Kane’s plunging header put Bayern ahead and Musiala dribbled past the Darmstadt defense to net in his second. Substitutes Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel made added their own goals, giving Bayern the 5-2 victory.
However, in the second half, Kane suffered injury when he appeared to injure his ankle colliding with a goalpost. Kane will now return to England for the Champions League quarter-finals next month when Bayern face-off with Arsenal.
