BTS Star Jin Begins Military Service in South Korea

K-pop star, Jin from super group, BTS begins military service.

The oldest member of the K-pop super group, BTS has started his 18 months of mandatory military service at a South Korean boot camp.

Jin, 30, arrived at the base on Tuesday morning to meet hundreds of fans and media personnel waiting to welcome and catch a glimpse of him. He had posted a picture of his new military haircut and also wrote that “it’s time for a curtain call.”

CNN report says numerous banners along the roadway welcomed Jin and the other recruits to the base. A motorcade of six black vans, which was assumed to carry Jin and his security staff entered the base shortly before 2pm, says the report.

Military service is compulsory for all able-bodied men in South Korea. In October, BTS’s record label said that all seven members of the group were planning to undertake military service. The group is expected to reunite in 2025.

According to Sky News, The group made history in 2019, as the first Korean group to play Wembley Stadium with their first night selling out in 90 minutes.
