BET Awards 2024: Tyla Wins Best New Artist

South African singer Tyla @tyla was named Bets New Artist at the BET Awards 2024 which took place in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theatre.

Tyla’s debut single, ‘Water’, earned her several accolades and global fame, including the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in February 2024.

In her acceptance speech, the 22-year-old said “Oh my gosh this crazy, this is also very heavy again. First of all I love Sexyy Red. I lover her so much. This is such a gift to be here. I want to dedicate this to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting.”

“This is just amazing. Africa to the world guys”, she added.

Earlier in the day, she also received the award for Best International Act to which she said “Guys, I did not prepare anything, but I just want to say thank you so much to my tigers, my, my, team.”
