Award-winning Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced an early retirement from music, after his next album.
The “Unavailable” crooner made the announcement in a Thursday night post on X, while reacting to the recent pictures and videos doctored against hum by a popular blog.
Davido claimed some persons wanted him out of the music industry. He wrote “Y’all niggas want me out the game that bad?? Oya after next album I no do again. So una fit get peace.”
The announcement came only a few hours after he dropped Kante’s visuals to wrap up the era of his fourth album titled “Timeless.” The singer said he now looks forward to a new era of new music and new milestones.
‘Kante’ is the 10th track off ‘Timeless’, featuring talented singer Fave.
The retirement announcement sparked reactions among fans and music enthusiasts, ranging from disappointment to support. X user @gravityempire28 wrote “You don finally accept defeat (with a laughing emoji) you for wait make you be 001 first…”
Another user, @honest30gbfa said, “If you go who go dey give us jam like isakaba.” Seun wrote “We don’t want the next album abeg, keep it we have suffered enough.”
Moreover, @daddyzee02 tweeted “If you dey listen to your fans you won’t be in this situation. We what you can’t see we don’t have to be close to you or be your family to know somethings are not right. Lock up this agenda and drop gbedu.”
Drumming up support, another fan @dhavidote said “If you no drop song or album after this next one I go beg god make ein deaf me.”
