Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says he is hopeful that Harry Kane’s ankle injury is not serious after the striker limped out of the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen.

“Hopefully, it’s nothing serious”, said Kompany. “I’m not a doctor and it’s much too early. I know something happened, but I hope he’s ready for Wednesday.”

Kane, the England captain, had limped off the pitch with a foot injury in the final minutes following a collision with Leverkusen’s Amine Adli.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said he was not sure about Kane’s injury status, but stated that “when Harry leaves the field means something because he’s pretty tough. It doesn’t look good, but we hope he’s made of strong English wood and nothing’s broken.”

Bayern will be meeting with Aston Villa next Wednesday in the Champions League.

Speaking after the draw with Leverkusen, Kane told the reporters that he expects to be ready to go against Aston Villa. Kane said, “It happened during a tackle, it was painful. We’ll investigate further tomorrow.”

When asked whether he will play against Villa he added, “I assume that I can play.”
