As the repairs of the Calgary Feeder main are underway the City asked residents to take steps in conserving water. On Tuesday, the City of Calgary’s water use dropped, putting the city in the green zone.
According to the city, “Tuesday’s water use was 481 million litres, down from 494 million litres the day before, putting us in the green zone where we can operate the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant sustainably without undue strain.”
However, the city urges residents to continue to save water by holding off on laundry that can wait, skipping a toilet flush and taking short showers.
The construction work continues to progress and some sites are ahead of schedule, says City of Calgary. Officials say all 12 pipes in Sites 1-4 have been fixed. Paving and backfilling is expected to be completed on Sites 2-3, depending on the weather.
In site 5, excavation continues at one segment, but concrete encasement, curing and form removal activities are underway at the other two fully excavated segments. Excavation is complete in Sites 6-8, but concrete pouring and curing are in progress.
The city officials say they are reviewing construction timeline and will provide an update on Thursday afternoon.
