Saudi Arabia to Cut Oil Production by 1 Million Barrels Per Day

The move is to boost slumping prices

Saudi Arabia will reduce oil output to the global economy by one million barrels per day (bpd), after two previous cuts by major producing countries in the OPEC+ alliance failed to push oil higher.

Other members of OPEC+ alliance, agreed to continued cuts in production in an attempt to push oil higher. Saudi Arabia says it would make these production cuts in July to support the flopping cost of crude oil.

Reports says the decision was reached on the output policy after seven hours of talks at its headquarters in Vienna and earlier cuts has been extended through next year. The Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said in a news conference that Saudi could extend the cut of one million bpd beyond July if needed.
