The two leaders are to meet to discuss the war and other “international and regional topics”, says the report.
This is Mr. Xi’s first meeting overseas since the outbreak of the corona virus. Mr. Putin also has not been travelling overseas much since the war with Ukraine started. This is the two leader’s second meeting this year, after their meeting at the Winter Olympics in Beijing In February.
The meeting will take place at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, which will run from 15 to 16 September, report says. The meeting is a sign that Beijing sees the relationship with Russia as crucial to countering the US.
