Sandra Miju Oh was born July 20, 1971 in Nepean, Ontario, Canada. She is best known for her role as Rita Wu in the HBO comedy Arliss (1996 to 2002), as Dr. Christina Yang on the ABD medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy (2005-2014). She is currently starring as Eve Polastri in the spy killer series Killing Eve (2018-2022).
Born and raised by South Korean immigrants Jeon Young-nam and Oh jun-su in a Christian home, Oh began acting and practicing ballet at age four to correct her pigeon-toed posture. At age ten, Oh played The Wizard of Woe in a class musical called The Canada.
While in high school, she decided to focus on acting and began taking acting classes. She studied drama at the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal. Shortly after her graduation, she starred in a stage production of David Mamet’s “Oleanna in London”.
Oh has received several accolades and recognitions as a movie star. She has been nominated for 13 primetime Emmys, two Golden Globe Awards and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. She was named as one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2019.
