Others nominated in the same category included DJ Khaled Ft. Future & SZA (Beautiful), Jack Harlow (First Class), Kendrick Lamar Ft. Blxst & Amanda Reifer (Die Hard) and Latto – Big Energy (Live).
With the announcement came excitement from Tem’s fans and colleagues on social media. Female Music A-listers Tiwa Savage, Omawunmi, and Waje congratulated the 27-year old on her win, with each sharing pictures of her.
A fan, @shawnifee wrote, “Tems’ growth through the years has been mind blowing. Now she’s won a Grammy, becoming the first Nigerian female act to win the Award. Big Tems herself!”
Adesua Etomi-Wellington tweeted “God abeg, continue to do it for Tems baby. Let the success continue to choke. Thank you. Amen.” There was also the awe-inspiring moment when @djkhaled told Tems that he was her biggest fan when they met on the red carpet of the event.
