Southwest Airlines Plane Struck by Bullets Prior to Takeoff in Dallas

A Southwest Airlines plane was reportedly struck by bullets at Dallas Love Field on Friday night, prior to takeoff.

The airline confirmed that the plane was preparing for departure to Indianapolis when it was hit, but no injuries were reported.

“Southwest Airlines Flight 2494 taxied safely back to the terminal at Dallas Love Field after a bullet apparently struck the right side of the aircraft just under the flight deck while the Crew was preparing for departure for Indianapolis”, reads the statement.

“No injuries were reported. Southwest will accommodate our Customers on another flight. Law enforcement authorities have been notified and the plane has been removed from service.”

The Dallas Police Department said the incident occurred around 9:48pm at 8000 Herb Keller Way. WFAA, citing a police source reported that there were 99 passengers onboard the flight when it was hit.

Authorities are actively investigating the source of the gunfire and have reportedly increased security measures at the airport.
