Mariam was welcomed into the royal palace by chiefs and close aides of the monarch late Tuesday night. Mariam is from the ebira ethnic group in Kogi State. Prior to her marriage to the Ooni, she was an administrative manager in an oil and gas firm.

Moses Olafare, media aide to the Ooni, confirmed the news of the low-key marriage in a Facebook post earlier today.

Mariam Anako-Ogunwusi is the fourth wife to the Ooni after his last union with Prophetess Naomi Ogunwusi ended in December, 2021.
