According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) the victim of the shooting is an 18-year-old man, who was not a university student. Out of the 16 people, 12 were injured by gunfire and the remaining were not related to gunshots. Some of them were students of the school.

The incident reportedly happened around 1:40am on the Macon County campus as the school’s 100th homecoming festivities were winding down.

ALEA said Jaquez Myrick, 25, of Montgomery was arrested while leaving the scene of the campus shooting and was found with a handgun with a machine gun conversion device. In a statement, the agency said the that Myrick faces a federal charge of possession of a machine gun. It was not stated if Myrick is a student of Tuskegee University.

The FBI joined in the investigation and said it is seeking tips from the public, including any video witnesses might have. It set up a site online for people to upload video.

Following the shooting, Tuskegee University cancelled all classes on Monday. ALEA’s Bureau of Investigations continues to investigate the incident.
