Juventus Moves Up to Third Following Udinese Win

Thiago Motta’s side, Juventus moved up to third in the Serie A table following an “important” 2-0 win over Undines, marking their first victory since mid-October.

The record 36-time champions trail second-placed Inter Milan on goal difference after Maduka Okoye’s own goal and a strike from Nicola Savona.

Motta hailed Juventus for the win saying it was a “team victory”. He told DAZN, “This is a team victory, because we interpreted the match in the best way. In the first half, we could have played a bit more because Udinese allowed us to build from the back, the initial build-up.”

“We moved the ball around and sometimes found some very interesting situations, but we lacked some depth at that moment, especially with our wingers. Udinese have great confidence at the moment, we were good at compacting and playing.”

“Today we have to enjoy this important victory for us”, he added. “It will be very interesting to play against Lille. They have an extra day of recovery because they played yesterday, we will have to rest well to play.”

Juventus had been winless since October 19, after draws with Inter Inter Milan and Parma, as manager Motta brought the in-form Turkish teenager Kenan Yildiz into the starting line-up.
Meanwhile, Udinese coach, Kosta Runjac said he didn’t think they played in the first half. He said, “I think we didn’t play in the first half of the game, we didn’t exist, we let Juventus train, we weren’t active.”

“Performances like aren’t enough, it’s the first time we’ve started a match so badly, we didn’t win duels, Juventus were more intense, we weren’t able to react, it’s the second match this week in which we can learn a lot, even if things didn’t work we have to put energy on the pitch, we didn’t do it and we conceded two goals.”
