This is the Polish world number one, Swiatek, 21, third major title at the US Open. She proved her tennis mastery on Saturday by being the first Polish woman to win the US Open in a match against Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur, 28.

The champion is the first top-seeded woman to win the US Open since Serena Williams won in 2014. Jabeur had a second straight loss in a major final after she lost the Wimbledon final in July to Elan Rybakina in three sets.

Jabeur admits she “doesn’t like” Swiatek at the moment, but “ she deserves to win”, while Swiatek admitted it was “ a challenging tournament” and she is proud she could handle it mentally.
