Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 pro were launched in India and global markets on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the company’s annual Made by Google hardware launch event.
The newly launched phones share Google’s new Tensor G3 chipset, as well as Android 14 OS, and Titan M2 security chip, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 8 Pro sports a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. The nits of peak brightness in 2,000.
According to Google, both phones feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, while the Pixel 8 has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. However, the Pixel 8 Pro has a 64-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.
Both smartphones comes with 11-megapixel selfie camera located in a centre-aligned hole-punch display cutout. The main camera features Dual-LED flash, pixel shift, Ultra-HDR, panorama.
The pixel 8 has a 4,575mAh battery power with support for 27W charging, while the Pixel 8 Pro packs a 5,050mAh battery that can be charged at 30W. The phones offer support for facial recognition and an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
Pixel 8 comes in storage variants of 12GB + 128GB RAM, 12GB + 256 RAM, 12GB + 512 RAM and 12GB +1TB RAM. Google says both phones will be available for purchase from October 12 in Hazel, Rose and Obsidian color options.
