Former conservative Senator, Don Meredith, who resigned from the upper chamber amidst sexual misconduct scandal faces criminal charges.

Meredith who was involved in a sexual affair with a teenager, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and criminal harassment by the Ottawa police.

The charges related to incidents in 2012 and 2014 and were reported to the police by an adult woman, says Ottawa police.

The police said they “are concerned there may be more alleged victims”. The 58 year old former senator was charged and released on a promise to appear in court.
