Finally, De La Soul’s back catalogue, including classic albums, will be made available for streaming.

The hip hop trio, De La Soul’s first six records will be released on digital streaming services on 3, March. “Alexa what’s the magic number. Full catalog release on 3.3.2023 #delasoul @amazonmusic,” tweeted the group.

The first six albums by the group include: 3 Feet High and Rising; De La Soul is Dead; Buhloone Mindstate; Stakes is High; Art Intelligence: Mosaic Thump; AOI: Bionix. “We can’t believe this day is finally here, and we are excited to be able to share our music with fans, old and new,” the band said.

According to Sky News, complications around licensing due to the extensive amount of samples in their songs, as well as issues with their former label, kept the band’s earlier music from being on streaming sites.

De La Soul is an American hip hop trio formed in 1988 in Long Island, New York. They are best known for their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres. The members are Posdnuos (Kelvin Mercer), Trugoy (David Jude Jolicoeur) and Maseo (Vincent Lamont Mason Jr.). The band’s debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising was described as “a hip hop masterpiece.”
