The Calgary Police Service (CPS) are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday evening that involved three vehicles.

According to a news release by the police, “at approximately 6:25pm, on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, a white 2017 Ford Escape, driven by a 34-year-old, was travelling west along 24 Avenue N.E., approaching the intersection at Centre Street N.E.”

“At the same time, a white 2014 Lexus 250, driven by a 28-year-old man, with a 31-year-old woman in the front passenger seat, was traveling north on Centre Street N.E.”

Police said the Westbound Ford Escape failed to stop before entering the intersection, and struck the rear right corner of the Lexus 250 as it passed, causing the Lexus 250 to rotate and cross into the southbound lanes of Centre Street N.E.

The Ford Escape came to rest on the west side of Centre Street, said the Police. “The Lexus 250 was then struck by a silver 2012 Volkswagen Touareg, driven by a 50-year-old woman, who was traveling south along Centre Street N.E.”

The police said the driver of the Ford Escape sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Lexus 250 was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. The passenger was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen Touareg was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police do not believe that speed, alcohol, and drugs were factors in the collision.

The Traffic Section of the CPS continues to investigate the collision. Police are asking anyone with dash-cam footage to call 403-266-1234 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
