The Calgary Police Service (CPS), are currently investigating a fatal collision where a woman was struck by a CTrain in northeast Calgary.
According to the CPS, the incident happened around 10:35pm on November 11, 2023. The police said a CTrain was travelling southbound on 36th Street N.E., crossing over 16th Avenue N.E., when a female pedestrian entered the path of the train in an area where there is no pedestrian access, and was struck.
“The woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The train driver, who was not injured, stopped and remained at the scene”, said the Police.
Excessive speed, alcohol, and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision. The CPS said its Traffic Section is currently investigating and working to identify the woman.
The police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the police or drop anonymous tips at Crime Stoppers.
