United States President Joe Biden has honored Nigerian-born American Professor of Medicine, Dr. Nnaemeka Umerah with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Biden, in a letter conveying his warm regards, commended Umerah for taking it upon himself to contribute to public good.
“I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I’m proud to present you with the President’s Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of your 5,400 hours of service to this great nation”, said Biden.
“Throughout our country’s history, the American story has been strengthened by those who combine optimism about what can be done with the resilience that turns vision into reality. By sharing your time and passion, you are helping to discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever.”
The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural In the Diaspora (AEISCID) has felicitated with Umerah on his award, describing it as “truly deserving.”
In a statement by its President, Paschal Oluchukwu, AEISCID stated that Umerah has made substantial contributions to various charitable projects across Nigeria.
“The building of an orphanage in southern Nigeria, the biggest in East Nigeria, provision of boreholes in Northern rural areas, and the renovation of schools highlight his commitment to helping communities in need”, reads the statement.
Dr. Umerah who is a native of Anambra State, serves as the President and Executive Director of the Public Policy Research and Advocacy Council (PPRAC), an American-based think tank.
