Unified boxing champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has predicted the IBF heavy world title fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois on Saturday night.
Dubois will be defending his heavyweight world title against two-time champion Joshua at the Wembley stadium.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Usyk said “I think it’s AJ. I respect both of these guys, but I predict Anthony. It’s good. IBF did not take my belt, I gave my belt to Anthony Joshua and Dubois. Because of me, it’s important that my sport of boxing develops.”
During the weigh-in at Trafalgar Square on Friday night, Joshua tipped the scales at 18 stone, while Dubois weighed in at 17st 10lb.
“There is no way to compare Dubois and Joshua, because they are completely different fighters.” Usyk told Boxing King Media. “Different skills; different styles. Totally different boxers. To be fair, I don’t think [Dubois can reach Joshua’s level]. I am sorry for saying this, but this is the truth and I am telling it.”
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is leaning towards Dubois in the bout. His promoter, Frank Warren told Sky Sports “I spoke with him this morning… He said the same thing, he’s not in the same frame of mind as I am about Daniel’s chances. He thinks Daniel’s going to do the business, so that’ll be the unification next year.”
Both Fury and Usyk will be at the ringside at the national stadium tonight.
