Calgary Police Service (CPS) have released the photo of a teen suspect in relation to the suspicious fires that occurred in Riverbend last month.
The police were called to a home in the 100 block of Riverglen Crescent S.E on Aug. 22, 2024 for reports of a fire that destroyed a garage and caused damage to two residences. No injuries were reported.
Investigators believe the suspect may have been responsible for two additional fires that was set to recycling bins in the back alley of the 0 to 100 block of River Valley Crescent S.E. Police believes one of the fires was set around 11:30pm on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 and the other was set around the same time as the residential fire.
Initially, police provided the description of the suspect. However, they have now released a photo to help further the investigation. Officers describe the suspect as a teen, with a fair complexion. The suspect was last seen wearing a grey and white camouflage patterned hooded sweater, black shorts, an army-green satchel and light-brown or green Croc shoes.
Police believes the suspect was traveling by foot and may have been with two other individuals in the areas of: the 100 block of Riverglen Crescent S.E.; the 0 to 100 block of River Valley Crescent S.E. and the 100 block of River Valley Crescent S.E.
The suspect’s face has been blocked according to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which protects the identity of young offenders.
Police is asking anyone with information about the identity of the suspect of the suspicious fires to call 403-266-1234 or drop anonymous tips on Crime Stoppers.
