Snowfall Warning Issued for Calgary and Nearby Areas

Snowfall warnings have been issued for Calgary and nearby environments and motorists have been encouraged to take caution on the roads.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary and Rocky View County are expected to experience heavy snowfall from Wednesday evening continuing into Thursday. Many roads and sidewalks are expected to have snow and will likely make a mess for easy commute.

ECCC says there will be periods of rain changing to snow, which will amount to around two to four centimeters. Wind becoming north 30km/h before morning. The forecasted is low minus 1.

The authorities says there will be “snow at times heavy” on Thursday. The snow is expected to amount 5 to 10 cm, with wind north 40 km/h gusting to 60. The temperature steady near minus 2. Wind chill minus 11 is expected in the afternoon.

On Thursday night, ECCC says residents should expect “snow at times heavy” ending near midnight then partly cloudy. The low is minus 7, with a wind up to 15 km/h and a wind chill near minus 11.

The sunshine is expected to return during the weekend, with a mixture of sun and cloud.
