DC’s US Representative, Dr. Oye Owolewa has announced a partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), to conduct in classroom experiences for DC public elementary school students.
According to the Press Release by the Rep’s office, Rep Oye and the FBI agent Nicole Mines will be interacting with third graders at Ward 8’s Turner Elementary School (3264 Stanton Rd SE), on Friday June 16th.
The press release says Rep Oye plans to “conduct a science experiment and the join Agent Mines’s experiences with students.” The event is part of Rep Oye’s commitment to youth services and empowerment, says the release.
“Rep Oye hopes that with FBI’s collaboration, more DC students will have early exposure to specialized careers that can help keep them in the District for the next 10, 15, and 20 years.”
Making an official announcement of the partnership, Rep Oye said “I’m DC’s US Representative Dr. Oye Owolewa and I am proud to announce my partnership with the FBI. We are teaming up to reach DC Public elementary school students to provide early exposure to specialized careers. This partnership is part of my office’s commitment to youth services and empowerment.”
Rep Oye @repoyedc thanked Agent Nicole and the rest of the DC’s FBI team for “the partnership and their generosity in volunteering their time and expertise for the kids at Turner Elementary School. Rep Oye, quoting an online article says “children with early exposure will have a better understanding of career paths and become more confident in their career choice by high school.
In the release, Rep Oye says his office has been working tirelessly to even the playing field by ensuring DC Kids get the most out of their educational experiences.
