One Dead in Northeast Fatal Workplace Incident Involving…

One person is dead following an incident outside a business in a Northeast Calgary commercial area, on Tuesday afternoon.

Report says emergency crews responded to a call at around 1:30pm to the area of Hopewell Place and 27th Avenue Northeast. The person was confirmed dead at the scene.

Public Information Officer for the Calgary Fire Department, Carol Henke says “some marble were being transported, some large marble slabs, and a tragic accident happened”, reports Global News.

“Sometimes the outcome, despite everyone’s best efforts on scene, is not what we hope for”, said Henke.

Details of the deceased have not been released. However, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) has commenced an investigation into the incident.
