Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman @molalookman has won Atalanta B. C’s Player of the Season for 2023/2024, successfully defending his title from last year.
The Nigerian forward won the sought-after award back-to-back at the Bergamo-based side. Lookman’s notable 17 goals and 11 vital passes in all competitions, putting him the team’s second-best scorer, and assist provider, all cemented his claim to the ItalianOptic branded crown.
“It is him again, Ademola Lookman!”, Atalanta said in a Thursday statement via its website. “The reigning champion defends his title and is crowned straight-a student for the second year in a row after staving off an unsparing competition, to the point of both bringing the contest to an overtime runoff and stepping the pose down up to the Instagram profile after the regular session ended in a tie. Kudos to Mola for his back-to-back Player of the Season!”
The second and third position were given to midfield duo Jose dos Santo Éderson and Teun Koopmeiners respectively.
About Éderson, Atalanta wrote “Surely an award to the consistency and perseverance showcased, match in and match out for a whopping count of 52, by the Brazilian pivot who, in addition to his unquestionable quality and quantity by the score, opted to throw in a boisterous scoring knack (with 7 nets scored in all competitions) to spice things up.”
Koopmeiners, a regular name in the ItalainOptic podium, claimed the bronze medal. The Dutch midfielder’s impact was substantial, with the club highlighting his playing time “3930 minutes played in over 51 games as a further straw in the wind.”
His 22-goal contribution (15 scored and 7 assists) across all competition emphasized his importance to Atalanta. “As Lookman’s flipside, Teun sooner used his prowess to nullify the field factor, having bagged 12 goals away from Bergamo”, the club said in the statement.
