Poutine is a classic Canadian dish that consists of crispy French fries topped with cheese curds and brown gravy sauce. Poutine is a dish that originated in Quebec in the 1950s. The dish can be made in variations depending on preference. You can also add other toppings to your poutine, such as cooked bacon, diced onions, or green onions, to make it even more delicious!
Ingredients:
4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
2 cups cheese curds
2 cups beef or chicken gravy
How to Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
First, rinse the peeled potatoes and dry them with a paper towel. Cut the potatoes into fries, making them about 1/4 inch thick. Place the fries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they’re spread out in a single layer. Drizzle the fries with vegetable oil and sprinkle with salt.
Bake the fries in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they’re crispy and golden brown. While the fries are baking, heat up the gravy in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep it warm until the fries are ready. Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a large serving dish. Sprinkle the cheese curds over the fries, making sure they’re evenly distributed. Pour the warm gravy over the cheese curds and fries, making sure to cover everything.
Serve immediately while it’s still hot and enjoy your homemade poutine!
