The City of Calgary has unveiled its new brand, “Blue Sky City” on Wednesday. The new slogan was unveiled by Calgary Economic Development and Tourism Calgary.
Brad Parry, President and CEO of Calgary Economic Development (CED), explained that the new slogan identifies Calgary as Canada’s sunniest city. “It’s time to tell our own story or continue having others tell it for us. A strong, authentic and aspirational brand aspirational brand supports long-term growth and will align us around a shared vision for the future”, said Parry.
The brand will replace “Be a Part of the Energy”, which the city adopted as a brand in 2015. In total, 129 organizations across 26 sectors were engaged in consultations, for over two years through workshops, interviews, focus groups and survey in other to develop the new brand.
The new brand was released as part of CED’s 2024 report to the community on Wednesday. The announcement involved members of various community groups including Tourism Calgary, the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and the Center of Newcomers.
According to CED, announcing the new slogan is only step one, Calgarians can expect new logos and visual assets around town in the coming months.
