Murder Charges Laid in Connection With 2023 Shooting in Calgary

Calgary Police Service (CPS) have charged two men in relation to the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Jordan Jacques-Vetten that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, in the community of Capitol Hill.

According to a news release by CPS, Robert Matthews, 25, of Calgary, is charged with second-degree murder. An 18-year-old man from Chestermere, who was a youth at the time of the incident, is also charged with second-degree murder.

The man cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both men are scheduled to appear in court today, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024. The police says there is no known relationship between the men and the victim.

No other suspects are sought in relation to the incident.

Jaacques-Vetten, who was 33 at the time of his death was killed in Capitol Hill on Sept. 9, 2023. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 403-266-1234 or drop anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
