According to the police, they responded to reports of a shooting at around 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Trans Canada Centre, located in the 1400 block of 52 Street N.E. Upon arrival, the officers said they located a deceased man, as a well as a male and female who had been shot.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to the hospital where they remain in stable condition. Police said they “flooded” the area and immediately received “valuable information from witnesses.” The description of the suspects and their vehicle, a black truck was retrieved.

The release stated that “minutes after the incident, patrol officers observed the black truck being driven at high rates of speed in northeast and southeast Calgary.” Helicopter Air Watch for Community Safety (HAWCS) was used to follow the suspects.

CPS says the truck was found abandoned in the parking lot of CF Chinook Centre, located at 6455 Macleod Trail S.W., where the police say they entered a waiting vehicle and fled to another location.

Another 18-year-old who also cannot be identified due to his relation to the youth, has been charged with one count of accessory to murder after the fact.
