Celine Dion has canceled all her remaining shows for “Courage World Tour” scheduled for 2023-24, saying she was not strong enough to tour due to her battle with stiff-person syndrome.
The 55-year-old Canadian singer had disclosed last year that she has been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, which affects her singing.
In a statement posted on Twitter, @celinedion said “I am so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again.”
“I want you all to know, I’m not giving up…and I can’t wait to see you again,” she added.
The statement said refunds will be made in tickets purchased via the original point of sale.
Last year, in a tearful video posted on Instagram, Dion had said the disorder was causing muscle spasms and was hindering the use of her vocal cords the way she’s used to.
The Courage World Tour began in 2019, and Dion completed 52 shows before the Covid-19 pandemic put the remainder on hold.
