Calgary Dog Bus Takes Pups on a Canine Commute to Off-leash Park

Ruff and puff takes being unique seriously.

You shouldn’t be the same as everyone else and being different is not something you want to hide. This must be the reason a dog walker has decided to use a school bus, painted white and blue with a picture of a smiling cartoon dog by the door, to transport pups to the park.

Denzel Morrison, the owner of Ruff and Puff takes a canine commute by driving your dog to an off-leash area to play and brings them back home. According to him, the idea came to him three years ago when he watched “a guy driving yellow van full of dogs and it looked kind of like a school bus.”

“He said it was the ‘best job in the world’, and I was like,’ holy wow, that does actually look like a great job”, he told CTV News. Mr. Morrison got the outfitted so that every seat connects to a harness, and he also included gates down the aisle.

The business started a little more than two years ago and is gaining interests from many dog owners in Calgary. Speaking to the Globe and Mail, he said that there are three key elements to being a successful adventure dog bus owner.

One is love. “I’ve always loved dogs”, he told Globe and Mail. The second is treats. Mr. Morrison said “all the treats. That’s how I keep them in line – bribery. While the third, according to Mr. Morrison is safety.

A single ride on the bus costs $35 and can last up to 4 ⅟2 hours. When he picks up the dogs from their homes, they spend most of the time running and playing on a private dog park in Southeast Calgary.
