Kenya is almost synonymous with the word Safari, but the country has beaten this stereotype and is now adorned with numerous national parks, urban and rural cities, water bodies, geographical marvels, and pristine beaches. Here are some of the places you should consider as an adventurer.

Amboseli National Park: Amboseli National Park, formerly Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, is a national park in Kajiado South Constituency in Kajiando County, Kenya. The western section is dominated by vast Lake Amboseli, which is dry outside the rainy season. The park is adorned by the gigantic Mt. Kilimanjaro, and is one of the top places to visit in Kenya if you are a wildlife enthusiast. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here, ranging from wetlands with sulfur springs, and woodlands.

Tsavo National Park: This is Kenya’s largest park, sliced in two: Tsavo West and Tsavo East. These parks comprise four percent of the country’s total area, rivers, waterfalls, savannah, volcanic hills, a massive lava-rock plateau, and an impressive diversity of wildlife. Tsavo East is full of beautiful photo-worthy herd of elephants, the world’s longest lava flow, Mudanda Rock and the Lugard Falls. Tsavo West is wetter and comprised of Mzima Springs, and a number of natural springs filled with crocodiles and hippos

Lamu Island: This is a port, city and island just off the shore of Kenya in the Indian Ocean roughly 150 miles from Mombasa. Lamu Old Town is the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa, built in coral stone and mangrove timber. Strolling the streets and enjoying the scenery is one of the best things to do in Lamu. Amongst it features are intricately carved wooden doors, coral stones buildings, hidden courtyards, verandas, and rooftop patios.

Malindi: Malindi is a town on Malindi Bay at the mouth of the Sabaki River, lying on the Indian Ocean Coast of Kenya. Malindi sits amid a string of tropical beaches dotted with hotels and resorts. This beach town is part historic old town, part modern tourist hub. Asides basking on the beautiful beaches of Malindi, you can visit the Jami Mosque; two pillar tombs from the 14th century and one of the oldest standing monuments in Africa, Vasco De Gama Cross.
