Nigeria’s Chidinma Adetshina has emerged the first runner-up at the 73rd Miss Universe competition held at Arena CDMX, Mexico City, on Saturday.

Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig emerged as winner of the contest.

This year’s Miss Universe competition, dubbed as one of the most exciting in recent memory, celebrated beauty, talent, intelligence, and elegance of women from around the globe.

In a post share on Instagram, the organizers highlighted the intensity of the final moments saying, “The final two! Nigeria and Denmark, two incredible women, one unforgettable moment.”

The top five in the competition were Nigeria’s Chidinman Adetshina, Mexico’s Maria Fernanda Beltran, Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer, Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri and Venezuela’s Ileana Marquez.

The competition involved over 130 contestants from across the globe battling for the coveted crown of Miss Universe. However, it was Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer who took the crown from the reigning queen, Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua.

Earlier in the year, Chidinma withdrew from the Miss South Africa Pageant following a backlash over her Nigerian heritage. However, in a remarkable turn of event, she won the Miss Universe Nigeria title, while representing Taraba State.

Meanwhile, Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, withdrew from the Miss Universe competition just before the finale, citing health issues.

Chidinma’s journey to the finale is one of resilience and determination. Her poise and grace in the competition made her standout.
