Ethiopia is the only country in the world with 13 months and their New Year starts in September which implies that they are 7½ years behind Nigeria. This means they are 7 months into 2015 while we are in 2023. By September 12, 2023 they will be in 2016, which is also a public holiday in the country.
Ethiopia is also the only African country with its own alphabets. It has the world’s oldest living alphabets – Ethiopic – and probably one of the longest with its 345 letters. In addition, the oldest fossil skeleton of a human was discovered in Ethiopia. Interestingly, Ethiopia is one of the only TWO nations in the world never to have been colonized. This is despite the Italians twice trying and failing to take the country.
