Taylor Swift broke silence on engagement rumor with her lover of six years, Joe Alwyn, in her new album, Midnights.
She made a track on the album, Lavender Haze, which is a love song about her and her boyfriend and also addressed the engagement rumor in the track.
Initially, before the release of the album, Midnights, Taylor had teased that the first track “Lavender Haze”, was a love song where she gave an insight into their intimate relationship. She said that Lavender Haze was a common phrase used in the 50s movie, Mad Men, which described being in love.
There were rumors of her engagement with Alwyn, who she has been dating since 2016, circulated by an insider who claimed the lovers where engaged and only close family and friends knew about it. The insider also said that Taylor was only wearing her engagement ring inside.
In the Lavender Haze track, she sang “I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say. No deal. The 1950s shit they want for me. I just wanna stay in the lavender haze…All they keep asking me is if I’m gonna be your bride. The only kind of girl they see, is a one night or wife….”
