The day of late Queen Elizabeth II funeral will not be a provincial holiday in Alberta, but rather a day of “provincial mourning”, says Alberta government.
Report says that the province will “hold an outdoor ceremony at the legislature building at 10am on Monday, starting with a moment of silence”.
It was earlier declared by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, that the day would be federal holiday. He said that federal employees will get the day off, but provincial governments are allowed to make decisions on other workers.
Several provinces like Manitoba and Quebec will not be observing a holiday as well. Schools and businesses will be kept open, says the provincial governments.
