Piri Piri Chicken

Piri Piri Chicken is a cuisine of the Portuguese origin that is adapted by several former Portuguese colonies including Angola, Mozambique and South Africa.

Piri Piri Chicken is also called peri-peri chicken or pili-pili chicken. It is a chicken that is spiced up with several African spices, hot chili peppers, lemon and so on. Basically, piri piri chicken is just a flavorful spicy chicken dish that is grilled to tender perfection.

You could either grill whole or separate, depending on your preference. The most important thing is to get the flavors right.

RECIPE

Chicken

Lemon

Salt to taste

Blended Pepper

Onions

Spices & Herbs (Ginger, garlic, basil, oregano, etc)

White Vinegar

Chili

Smoked Paprika

Olive oil.

INSTRUCTIONS

First, you need to make the sauce. Blend the chili, pepper, with the spices and herbs, onions. Then mix with smoked paprika, salt, lemon and olive oil. After mixing together thoroughly, refrigerate for a few hours, the longer the better.

Pat your chicken dry, rub with lemon, salt and pepper. Marinate chicken with piri piri sauce and leave for as long as you can spare.

Preheat the grill on a medium heat. Place the chicken on the grill and grill till tender (turn on both sides occasionally). Carve and serve with the remaining piri piri sauce.
