In a stand against West’s anti-Semitic comments, a fan set his shoes worth, £12k on fire. Mirror reports that the man “tossed his own shoes costing an eye-watering £12,961, into a fire pit but considered it a price worth paying as a powerful message”.
The man identified as Danny Shiff told 7 News Miami “I’m very much actually for free speech, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what got me going on this one is someone like Kanye West, people like him cannot use the massive platform to spread this kind of hate”.
In a viral video, Shiff was seen burning his Yeezy sneakers. He initially said he was going to burn all 40 pairs of Yeezy sneakers he owned, but reactions on social media over him burning the sneakers made him change his mind.
A comment said “why pollute to prove a point. And he’s already got your money. He doesn’t care what you do with them now”. He has now shared his plans to auction the remaining ones and donate the proceeds to help fight against racism and anti-Semitism.
