Chakalaka is made in different ways, depending on who is making and maybe family recipe. It could be made really spicy and mild based mostly on which direction you want to go. It is a dish enjoyed by South African mostly during a ceremony. Originally, Chakalaka was developed by men who worked in goldmines. The story is that they put together a variety of vegetables and beans and formed this cuisine which is served alongside a starchy dish.

PROCEDURE FOR CHAKALAKA
In a pot, heat oil over medium heat, add onions and fry for a few minutes. Add all your spices: ginger and garlic, thyme and curry, cayenne pepper, and stir. Afterwards, add diced red and green pepper, grated carrot and sliced cabbage. Continue stirring for a few minutes. Lastly, add in the baked beans and continue to stir for 3 minutes. Your Chakalaka is ready to serve.
