Kekefia/Kekefiyai is a dish of the Ijaw ethnic people of Nigeria, made with unripe plantain, seafood and palm oil.

Recipe for Kekefia

Unripe Plantain

Periwinkle

Dry fish/ other seafood

Onions

Scent leaf

Pepper

Seasoning

Cooking Instructions for Kekefia

Wash, peel and dice plantains in a bowl and set aside. Put your pot on the fire with enough water to cook your plantain and bring to a boil. Add your plantain into the boiling water and cook for a few minutes. Pour in your pepper, fish/seafood, scent leaf seasoning, periwinkle, palm oil and cook until plantain is soft. Stir and allow to simmer. Your Kekefia is ready to serve.
